Marsh at Start of Autumn

Marsh at Start of Autumn

The photo displayed in this post was taken from a tall wooden platform built along one of the long trails through marshland in the Indiana Dunes State Park. The structure has been designed to assist those viewing and photographing birds stopping in the vast wetlands during seasonal migrations. The wide expanse up to the distant tree line in this picture is filled with water, though at this time of the year it is also completely covered by foliage grown all summer, as can be seen in the image.

At this point in September with the start of autumn, viewers can observe the first fringes of fall coloring. I hope to return to this same location in a couple of weeks to capture an entire vivid landscape exhibiting its transition to autumn conditions.
