Turn in Trail Toward the Shore sm

Sunny and 75

As the lyrics in Joe Nichols’ latest popular song state, the weather when I visited Lake Michigan on Monday was “sunny and 75,” perfect for walking a long round-trip route to the beach and back. Therefore, I hiked a hidden trail through the woods and over the lakeside dunes until I came to a turn that aimed down a gentle slope toward the shore, as seen in the accompanying photograph.

The way was partially blocked by a dead tree that had fallen, spanning a sandy path leading to an ideal and isolated location along the lake, where I would wander alone a couple of miles down the waterfront on my return trip. I took a number of additional photos during my stroll, appreciating the wonderful conditions and admiring the scenery every step of the way.
