View from Dune Ridge

The weather was warm and the winds calm yesterday, so I hiked one of the trails in the Indiana Dunes State Park that climbs to the highest ridges of the dunes. When arriving at the top after traveling through thick woods, the first glimpse of Lake Michigan can be dramatic and satisfying.

In addition, following that long walk up the winding and elevated sand paths, one wants to stop for a rest while admiring the view down the coast and across the water. This location offers just the sort of settings I appreciate very much.

Therefore, I took many photographs from those heights above the beach, capturing various perspectives of the scenery, including the image seen in the accompanying picture. I never tire of the beauty evidenced in this landscape bordering the shore, especially when the magnificent expanses of lake water and blue sky serve as backdrop.
