After snow flurries Saturday morning, temperatures spiked to about seventy degrees by Sunday afternoon; therefore, Pam, Alex, and I decided to take a walk at one of the parks nearby. When our path wound past a mound with a bench underneath a lone tree at its crest, I snapped the photograph above.
The scene seemed to me to be an ideal image depicting the extended delay in spring’s arrival experienced this year. The tree’s empty branches appeared to be anticipating the new season’s growth of foliage, and the bench gave an impression of awaiting visitors hoping to rest beneath the shade of overhanging limbs during warmer weather. Despite the lingering yellow tint in this grass-covered rise, it even displayed hints of green that offered evidence for an expectancy of summer’s deeper hues.
