Gulls Along Lake Shore

Gulls Along Shore

Gulls Along Lake Shore

As the delay of milder spring weather continues into mid-April and a raw chilliness in the air continues in northern Indiana, especially when brought off the lake by brisk winds, the shoreline of Lake Michigan remains mostly empty of visitors.

Those few ring-billed gulls scavenging along the water’s edge still have the place to themselves, yet exhibiting a sense of grace and elegance. They seem to be enjoying the extended absence of humans, who will soon crowd the beachfront, wading little waves rippling over the sandbar or swimming the shallow waters just beyond, filling the scene throughout the summer ahead.
