Sunset Beyond Thin Ice

Once again, cold winds have blown from the north this weekend. Though Saturday was bright with sunshine, Sunday’s skies were covered with a thick layer of clouds. We have avoided a snowstorm that moved quickly through the Midwest, but a few flurries have added a touch of white to the edges of local waterways.

Ponds and smaller lakes have also developed thin skins of ice this week, perfect for reflecting those impressive colorful hues created by a late sun peeking through a row of empty trees, their silhouettes made more dramatic by the sky behind them.
